Historical art

The old collections, assembled since the late 19th century by several professors of archaeology and art history and largely consisting of plaster casts, have been supplemented with nearly 800 original works: sculptures, paintings and other objects representing art in this region from the 14th to the 19th century, including a remarkable set of works dating from the late Gothic period and the early Renaissance.

The bequest of the collector Frans Van Hamme began a series of donations from 1967 onwards that has greatly enriched UCL’s artistic heritage.
